I started manufacturing and selling Keepons about 2 years ago after quitting my then day job as the Operations Director for a fairly large ecommerce site. My reasons for quitting were:
-I had had enough of the daily grind associated with work.
-My mother's health was in decline and I wanted to spend more time with her.
In the beginning, our plan (and when I say our plan I mean my mother's and mine. She's not too Internet savvy, but I wanted to get her involved in the business decisions right away so she'd have something other than getting old to think about) was to open an Internet shop and fill it with all sorts of wonderful products that we'd curate from our daily walks through the Shenzhen markets.
Around that time, I was also in the middle of developing Keepons and we thought, great, Keepons would be one of the products we'd sell in our store.
After several hundred unsuccessful domain name attempts, we finally settled on chamightlike.com, since our plan was to find things you (as the customer) might like. Get it? You might like, chamightlike...
Weeks after launching chamightlike.com, I made my first production run of the Keepons original clears. 10,000 pieces. It didn't take long before the orders started rolling in. And with the orders, came the need for more styles. Like the Keepons lite clears. nd the Keepons deluxe blacks.
Well that was then and this is now.
My mom's health is fine now. And I went back to work. A headhunter called me a year ago with an offer I couldn't refuse. Marketing Director for one of China's biggest eBay power sellers. So I hired an ex-colleague to help me run things. Her name's Amy by the way and she's amazing. Chamightlike's Operations Director.
By the way, chamightlike.com is now 4 people. My mom, me, Amy, and Hua (pronounced Wa, who's also the world's biggest nerd, or should I say the second biggest nerd next to me hehe as evidenced by our marathon discussions regarding Star Trek).
In the weeks ahead, we expect to launch more Keepons styles...and near the end of 2013, different product lines comprised of both electronic and non-electronic items. Exciting times ahead.
Anyhoosies...
I really have no pretensions about being the next Google or Facebook. We're just a small company that sells a product that helps people. Not just keep their glasses on, but lead happier lives. That's what makes work so much fun and so satisfying.
And pretty well every day we receive email to the tune of, "I love Keepons!", or "These things have changed my life!"
I guess you could say, things are pretty good here.
So in closing, thanks for dropping by and oh if there's anything you need whatsoever, please drop me an email at anytime.
